Mr Chris Green

SLE specialism: Physical Education
School: St Elphege’s RC Junior School

Teaching experience

  • I have been working in education since April 2007.
  • Qualified teacher since September 2013
  • Physical Education Coordinator experience in KS1 and KS2 September 2014 – July 2016
  • My present (TLR) role is Sports and Community.
  • Teaching experience in Year 1 – 6. From September 2017, I will be in my third year in Year 6.

Current role

My current role is year 6 teacher and (TLR) Sports and Community Coordinator. As part of my role in school, I ensure that the sporting provision within the school is to the expected high standard. I have set up and ran several successful extra-curricular clubs, with the school being successful across a range of sports at borough and county level. Within physical education across the school, I help with planning, resourcing and team-teaching which is identified through constant monitoring and evaluation.

Summary of previous experience

Physical education has always been my passion, and I have been involved in sports coaching since 2001. I always look to ensure that all pupils in my class achieve their full potential, with my approach heavily linked to physical fitness and exercise. I believe that giving the children an opportunity to be active can have a positive impact on all areas and aspects of the curriculum. I have always managed to secure good to outstanding progress with the children I teach and believe my behavioural management strategies and techniques are excellent.

I worked through a number of roles in education since 2007. I have coached children in a range of sports – many of which have gone on to borough, county and even international level. In 2010, I studied at London Metropolitan University and became a qualified teacher in July 2013. During my time at St Elphege’s, I have teaching experience from Year 1 – 6. I have experience as physical education coordinator across both infant and junior schools and played a key role in improving the standard of sports provision being provided across the curriculum and extra-curricular clubs.

I have successfully gained the Teaching and Learning Responsibility (TLR) of Sports and Community, and in this role, I have mentored and team taught with individuals who lack confidence and/or experience in physical education.

Through sharing of lesson plans, expertise and teaching strategies, I have enabled individuals to gain the confidence and experience in order to improve their own teaching in the future. I have carried out observations on individuals and provided concise and constructive feedback to them, in order for them to progress and improve. In addition to this, as part of my role, I am always looking for schools to carry out charitable work in the local and wider communities. I have raised funds for local children’s homeless shelters, international charitable organisations such as CAFOD and up and coming school projects in parts of Africa.
