Current role

My current role is Director of Mathematics at Cirrus Primary Academy Trust, leading on the Mathematics Provision across the 6 trust schools supporting mathematics Subject Leaders in carrying out their role successfully

Summary of previous experience

I have always had a natural drive to ensure that all pupils in my class achieve their full potential and with this continuously ambitious approach, I have always managed to secure good to outstanding progress with the children I teach and as a result have greatly contributed towards the school’s success by improving results in English and Mathematics.

As a mathematics subject leader, then an Assistant Headteacher and subsequently a Deputy Headteacher in charge of curriculum, assessment and the Teaching School, I made significant adaptations to whole school approach to teaching and learning and the mathematics provision through strategic planning to bring about a lasting change. This saw significant improvements in pupil progress and achievement across the school, which also helped moving St Elphege’s Junior School’s Ofsted rating from ‘Satisfactory’ to ‘Good’ in 2011 and subsequently to ‘Outstanding’ in 2015 and maintained an ‘Outstanding’ Grading in the Infants in May 2013.

Over the years, as a Primary Mathematics Associate Advisor for Sutton, a mathematics SLE and most recently a PD lead and Mastery Specialist Teacher, I supported many schools in a range of different settings in the subject of mathematics. Activities carried out included delivering of Local Authority central training sessions and whole school PDMs keeping up to date with new Local and Government Initiatives and Ofsted changes.

In supported schools, I conduct monitoring and evaluation of teaching and learning and I provide support through delivering whole school INSET, PDMs for teachers and TAs, and individual support by model-teaching, team-teaching, co-planning and the setting up and running of intervention or booster groups.
