Teaching experience

  • I am now in my 7th year.
  • Have taught from Year 1 – 5, with most of my experience being in Key Stage 1
  • Computing Leader

Current role

My current roles in school are Computing Leader and Phase Leader for Key Stage 1. Within my Computing role at school I embedded the New Computing Curriculum in school in 2013-14. This has been achieved through supporting staff with planning both discrete Computing lessons, and making cross-curricular links in other curriculum areas. I support staff with the teaching of Computing through team-teaching, modelling lessons, regular workshops and Professional Development Meetings, and through providing them with appropriate pupil and teacher resources. All of this has made staff at Avenue confident and enthusiastic about planning and teaching the new Computing Curriculum. I am also responsible for leading courses for staff within and outside the Borough. Within my role at school, I still teach most days in classes from Years 1-3.

Summary of previous experience

I have written new Computing and e-Safety overviews for Avenue successfully to meet the objectives of the New Curriculum, and have produced a range of documents and support materials to help teachers confidently plan for pitch, differentiation and progression in Computing both in terms of skills and knowledge.

I have led many training sessions on the new Computing Curriculum for the Sutton Primary Teaching School Alliance for Headteachers and senior management teams, subject leaders, experienced teachers, newly qualified teachers, School Direct students and teaching assistants.
