The government’s aim is to transition strategic responsibility for the supply of headteachers fully into the system, reducing targeted supported work gradually as a mature network of teaching schools and their chosen partners increasingly take on this role.

The development of the Sutton Primary School Improvement Partnership, and the commitment of all the primary schools in the alliance to working together, will help to strengthen our ability to manage talent and to develop our leaders of the future.  Through our effective CPD, right from ITT provision, we will be able to track the development of staff through their careers.  We propose to create a local database for teachers, which will manage the talent within our alliance, and will enable teachers moving through their career to benefit from staying within the alliance.  We will be proactive in our alliance at identifying teachers with the potential to take on headship.

Similarly, we will work with other teaching schools to support the recruitment of leaders for schools in their alliances, to help support the national issues around schools that have particular difficulties in recruitment.

We will expect governing bodies of schools to be actively involved in using the knowledge and intelligence of the Teaching School in their recruitment of leaders in schools.

The Teaching School will work with the National College to support programmes such as NPQH, and work with the College in targeted support.
